Poetry Out Loud County Competition

Thursday, February 1, 2018 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Bookshop Santa Cruz welcomes the Santa Cruz County Office of Education and the Arts Council Santa Cruz for the Poetry Out Loud national arts competition. For first time 10 Santa Cruz County schools will be participating.

Poetry Out Loud is a free high school program that encourages young people to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. This dynamic curriculum helps high school students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, learn about literary arts and compete for national awards. The Santa Cruz County Office of Education, in collaboration with the Arts Council Santa Cruz and the California Arts Council, has partnered to bring the Poetry Out Loud competition to Santa Cruz County students.
